Project focus 10: L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara

lucky #7 of the job focus 10 evaluation is L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara:

I’ve tried quite much every mascara L’Oreal has ever released since I’m still trying to discover a replacement to my cherished – however discontinued – L’Oreal Bare Naturale mascara. Does this do it for me?

Firstly, I must encourage that I’ve had this mascara sitting in my stock in its bundle for over a year before I opened it. I’m not sure if having it for that long impacted its performance.  It usually retails for around $16 however I gotten mine on sale for around $10 (is it just me or has drugstore mascara costs gone up a great deal lately?)

L’Oreal claims:

Its revolutionary Butterfly clean with asymmetrical lash line shape extends as well as lifts outer corner lashes to provide you a winged-out look that instantaneously volumizes lashes at the roots.
The special Cocoon Fibers wrap lashes in a soft, delicate veil to produce silky, spectacular lashes that flutter.

It does have that odd “butterfly wing” style of a silicone wand – it’s mainly advertising gimmick – however the 2 different sides do serve a purpose.  The routine shorter denser bristle side provides a great amount of volume on preliminary strokes onto the lashes.  Then I flip the clean to the “wing” comb, a lot more sparse bristle side as well as utilize that to develop length.  I did note that I didn’t get spidery looking lashes even when I developed up a number of layers. The combination of the 2 bristle styles create really long lashes with a great amount of volume.

I checked it with as well as without my lash primer as well as mascara top coat as well as the mascara performed extremely well even when used alone. I do still like using at least a lash primer which assists with bulking up my lashes even more.  But, I would not state that my lashes felt soft or delicate as L’Oreal claims. I’m rather shocked that I ended up liking this mascara so much.

A couple of things to note. This mascara is scented – like a granny perfume. I’ve encountered scented mascara only a couple of times before: Manhattan mascara (a German brand) as well as Maybelline Volum’ reveal The Colossal. I don’t comprehend the requirement for a scented mascara. The other item of note is that in spite of this mascara having an oddly shape (non-cylindrical) tube, which avoids rolling, it always handles to line up completely when closed. It likewise features a satisfying click system when closed completely.

However, I will state that unlike some mascaras where they get much better as time goes on, I discovered that the performance of this got progressively worse over time. I experienced more flaking as well as smudging now than when I very first opened the tube (I’ve been using this about 2 months now). If I’d done this evaluation a week or 2 into using this mascara, I most likely would have rated it higher.  It’s not a replacement for the Bare Naturale mascara, unfortunately!

A screen I came across recently, showing the new “Intenza” version of the Butterfly mascara next to the routine Butterfly one. It has an additional wing or something – I’ll most likely pick that a person up soon.

Pros:
• outstanding length
• great volume
• beneficial wand
• long wearing
• Holds curl
• great packaging

Cons:
• Scented
• minor smudging on lower lashes
• Some flaking

Stash worthiness: 8/10
